Support for Virginia State University (VSU) comes in many different ways. For some it comes through annual gift giving to the University’s Annual Fund; for others through the establishment of individual endowments and/or company scholarship funds; and still others through their involvement with the Virginia State University Alumni Association (VSUAA). No matter how one chooses to demonstrate their love and support for VSU, the impact is clear - students are provided with an educational experience that will serve as a catalyst for a successful future.

For over 50 years now, the Washington, DC Chapter has been committed to promoting and advancing the interests of VSU and VSUAA here in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Each year we host a wide-variety of activities and events that help to:

• enhance the public image of the University here in the Washington, DC metropolitan area,
• build a spirit of loyalty, love, and pride for the University,
• assist in the recruitment, retention, and career placement of future and new alumni,
• conduct activities to generate financial support to the University, and
• provide students scholarships to those who plan to or who are already enrolled at the University.

In 2006, the Chapter conceptualized an idea that would offer yet another way for area alumni and friends to show their support for the University and display their Trojan Pride at the same time.

Much like the VSU collegiate plates offered by the University to alumni and friends who reside throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Washington, DC Chapter is proud to partner with the state of Maryland to offer this amazing opportunity to showcase Trojan Pride and increase the University's visibility across Maryland roadways. Endorsed by the University's Development Office in 2008, this pride promotion is not only a great way to tell everyone on the road where you're from and where your heart is, but its also a great way to support the University as part of the revenue from the purchase of each license plate will be returned to the University via perpetual scholarship support.

That's right! Helping students never looked so good!

Raising funds to support students from the Washington, DC metropolitan area (Washington, DC, and the Maryland counties of Prince George’s and Montgomery) who desire to matriculate at VSU is one of the Chapters' highest priorities. That's why for every Trojan Pride License Plate sold, $25 of the $50 plate cost is considered a tax-deductible contribution that will go directly to the Chapter's Endowed Scholarship Fund.
